Forward.IT – Canberra based IT company that prides itself on a professional services team that requires an additional energetic and experienced Support Engineer to complement our small team and provide computer support to the end user.
Duties include project and ad-hoc client support via our Help Desk and in person at client sites.

To be successful in winning this role you MUST be an Australian Citizen, and be able to attain Australian Government security clearance, or be able to pass a police checks that will be organised for you if you are successful.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate the following:
- Excellent understanding of Microsoft XP and Vista environments – minimum of 2 yrs experience in a desktop support role.
- Experience with Microsoft Servers 2003/2008, Exchange2003/2007, and Small Business Server 2003/2008 would be advantageous.
- Networking knowledge including switches, routers and hubs.
- Experience configuring firewalls or other security devices would be advantageous.
- Good understanding of Windows registry and Active Directory

-Willing to study and complete IT certifications,
- A good work ethic,
- Work well as part of a team,
The main duties of the role are:
- Know, understand and follow local network management procedures and global security network policies
- Respond to support calls from Help Desk Operators
- Deliver solutions according to Service Level Agreement’s
- Act as a an expert technical resource to clients
- Support, monitor and upgrade LAN environments
- Ensure systems are backed up regularly and data protected
- Monitor server capacity and conduct performance analysis as guided
- Ensure adherence to change management processes and quality standards
- Understand and enforce the firms’ standards, security and licensing guidelines
- Advise on operational, resource and administration issues where required to ensure support trends and issues can be identified and resolved
- Escalate technical problems to senior technical engineers, where appropriate
- Assist in the remote diagnosis of problems as required
- Provide on-call support as required, own car a must.
- Configuration and deployment of network devices.
- Coordinate the installation and set up by providers of new communication lines

- Ability to build good rapport with people and build professional relationships with clients and inspire confidence.
