The Supervising Scientist Division of the Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts works to protect the Alligators Rivers Region from the potential environmental impacts of uranium mining.
An on-going position exists with Supervising Scientist Division, Darwin for an Hydrogeologist to develop and lead the Division’s hydrogeology monitoring program and groundwater modelling effort, focussing on the current impacts and future rehabilitation requirements of uranium mine sites in the Alligator Rivers Region of Australia’s Northern Territory.
The person in this position will be required to demonstrate their ability to provide high level advice to the Supervising Scientist and other parts of the Department, and communicate outcomes and results from relevant research projects to stakeholders, both verbally, and through publications and peer reviewed literature.
The successful candidate will be required to hold a PhD, or have an equivalent level of expertise, be able to demonstrate their expertise in both field assessment and modelling of flow and reaction pathways in groundwater, be able to lead and manage a multi-disciplinary team, project timelines and budgets.
