PERM role for Javascript, HTML, CSS developer who is focused on building the “VIEW” part of the development trilogy.
Our client is seeking a SPECIALIST USer Interface Builder - after the BA, Graphics and useability folk have done the work - bring on the “specialist” screen builder/developer/coder ideally with paper
prototyping skills, screen shots, visio diagrams etc
JOB PURPOSE
Responsible for working with the Interaction Design team to convert initial UI designs into testable prototypes and then converting those prototypes into robust and scalable components, templates and pages.
Will also be responsible for building and maintaining a large and diverse set of Web-based components, templates and libraries to support the User Interface goals of the web-based collaboration and
reference application.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Convert initial paper based prototypes into functioning Web-based prototypes for interface testing and evaluation
Convert prototypes into robust and scalable components, templates and pages
Create and maintain a library of useful XHTML / CSS / JavaScript code
Create and maintain a library of reusable UI widgets using JSP,
Velocity, J2EE Custom Tag Libraries
Engage with server-side engineering team to facilitate the
MVC-principled engineering methodology Participate in the User centred research and design process
CHALLENGES
Convert initial paper based prototypes into functioning Web-based prototypes for interface testing and evaluation
Convert prototypes into robust and scalable components, templates and pages
Create and maintain a library of useful XHTML / CSS / JavaScript code
Create and maintain a library of reusable UI widgets using JSP,
Velocity, J2EE Custom Tag Libraries
Engage with server-side engineering team to facilitate the
MVC-principled engineering methodology
Participate in the User centred research and design process
Typically 3+ yrs experience creating web based user interfaces
Experience with Web applications (not just web sites)
Solid development experience with XHTML, ECMA/Javascript and CSS
Experience in developing AJAX based interfaces/components using standard frameworks (e.g. DWR, Dojo, Prototype etc)
Strong knowledge of W3C standards
Strong knowledge of cross browser, usability and accessibility design issues
Experience in code optimization/refactoring
Strong knowledge of development design patterns and
Model-View-Controller principles
Highly Desirable:
Understanding of and experience integrating with J2EE server-side
technologies (e.g. Servlets)
Understanding of HCI and general UI design issues
Experience with User Centred Design Techniques
Experience with Java Web-based frameworks (e.g. Spring MVC, Struts,
Tapestry, Java Server Faces)
Desirable:
Flex/Flash experience
Image manipulation skills (Photoshop, Gimp)
