The position:
Working closely with the overall Project Manager for the project you will be responsible
for:

Project Manager

This national service supplier currently has a requirement for a Project Manager to join one of their sites based in Darwin. Working as part of a team to fulfil this client’s contract within the Defence sector, you will hold responsibility for organising and supervising onsite building works.

The role will involve reviewing requests for onsite work, and assigning work to the appropriate sub-contractors as well as taking responsibility for providing sub-contractors with site inductions. You will supervise all work carried out to ensure adherence to timescales, costs, quality and legal requirements whilst ensuring OH&S policies are followed at all times. You will monitor sub-contractor performance and compliance indicators as well as implementing continuous improvement and cost saving measures.

To succeed in this role you will have a strong background in managing contractors / sub-contractors. Preferably you will come from a construction or building management background .
A firm grasp of current Australian Building Codes is required, as is the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.

THE JOB: The Company is seeking to appoint a Development Manager responsible for all apartment projects in the ACT, with an initial focus on the development of 265 apartments at The Hub in Bruce which is 60% presold. The role encompasses all aspects of apartment development from feasibility to managing the design process and oversight of the external Construction Management team. The position reports to the Deputy Chief Executive (Operations).

Responsibilities include:
Preparation of feasibility studies for acquisition opportunities
Preparation of design briefs
Liaising with and directing consultants and building contractors during the design, documentation and construction phases
Preparation of project budgets, cash flows and programmes
Facilitating the preparation of Development Applications
Liaising with government agencies and certifiers to ensure timely issuance of development, building and occupancy approvals
Preparation and administration of Construction Management contracts, including oversight of the Construction Managers evaluation of suppliers and subcontractor tenders
Preparation and administration of construction management contracts, including evaluation of suppliers and subcontractor tenders
Monitoring the performance of projects against time, cost and quality objectives
Liaising with in-house sales, marketing and accounting staff to ensure project objectives are met
Liaising with stakeholders, including joint venture partners and project financiers
Oversight the management of the unit title process
Preparing progress reports for review by senior management and joint venture partners
Ensuring compliance with OH&S, BCA and associated standards and codes.
THE PERSON:The successful applicant will have extensive experience managing the design and construction activities of apartment developments, together with excellent management and communication skills. The person will be highly professional and results driven in nature, and will possess a relevant qualification in engineering, architecture, project management or similar.
